Google Chat is a tool that allow single person-to-person chats or group chats in what they call a "Room" you create with the people you want in it.

You can access Chat on your computer in the Chrome browser in the Chrome app for Gmail or Chat, or in the Gmail or Chat apps for iOS (also available on Android).
